This is a little late, but I'm still determined to write a ficlet per month for the Year of the OTP challenge. Most of them are written already ... two still to go. This ficlet belongs to the Library-AU-universe and is a gapfiller from Viggo's POV. Enjoy! The usual warnings apply, if in doubt please check back with the AO3 version for more tags. Or click on the link for the whole series, stories are listed there with short warnings that indicate how graphic the medical aspect will be.
Title: Status Quo
Author: Michelle
Email: michelle [at] waking-vision.com
Summary: How to fall in love when falling in love is the last thing on your mind.
Series: Library-AU
Pairing: Viggo/Orlando
Genre: slash
Warnings: AU, medical condition, epilepsy
Rating: Mature
Disclaimer: Viggo and Orlando belong to themselves. It’s only in my deranged mind that they belong to each other.
Author’s Note: Written for the Year of the OTP challenge. For June I chose the prompt “I can’t get you out of my mind”. This was a hard one, which is why it’s late. I went through three different ideas for a ficlet without achieving anything. In the end, this story was inspired by a conversation I had with Geale in the comment section of “Broken Wings”, where she talked about how vastly different the story would be if it was told from Viggo’s POV. So, this ficlet explores that idea and looks at what happens between Chapter 1 and 2 of “Broken Wings”. This was a tough one to write. Even though I’ve written Viggo’s POV before for this universe, I found it really difficult to get into his headspace. But when it finally clicked, it clicked big time. Probably a weird thing to say, but I like spending time in Viggo’s head. He’s so wonderfully complicated and interesting.
